May/June 2023

Dear Praying Friends and Supporting Churches,

We safely arrived on American soil June 21st!  Thank you all for praying for all the preparations leading up to our departure and for safety while traveling.  Our schedule increased in business as our departure drew closer, and we have not really slowed down yet.

Since our last report there have been some positive developments:

Thankfully, the Mendozas’ visa renewal was completed, and they have another two years.  We hope that the next time we will be able to apply for a longer period.  Thank you all for praying.  We have continued to pass out literature in different areas of the city with many people stopping to read the tracts and some following up on the website or contacting us by WhatsApp.

One Saturday while passing out cards promoting the website, we ran into one of the men that we had lost contact with.  He had regularly come by our old house and was responsible for inviting us to study the Bible in the market.  He moved off the street about the same time that we moved houses, and we had not been able to find him.  He was excited to see us and assured us that he was doing better than the last time we saw him.  He wanted us to visit his home, and Aaron and I went the next weekend.  Though he still technically lives in Belém, his house is a good hour’s drive from the center of the city.  I am keeping in touch with him by WhatsApp while we are here, and Aaron will try to visit him from time to time.  Pray the Lord will give him understanding.

A couple of weeks before we left, a man introduced himself to me at the gym.  He overheard Elijah, Sarah, and me speaking in English and was curious about who we were.  I have been able to have several conversations with him and have had the opportunity to share the Gospel with him.  So far, he has changed the subject, but continues to stay in touch.  Please pray for him.

We are looking forward to visiting many of our supporting churches and spending time with family. Please pray with us as we search for an affordable/reliable vehicle that will accommodate our traveling plans.  The work in Belém will continue with the Mendozas, and I will continue to monitor the website and WhatsApp from here.

May the Lord richly bless you.

For the Glory of God,

Chris Bell
